Acer prepare 3D notebook in October and without stereoscopic glasses

Resource DigiTimes reported with reference to the vice president of Acer’s mobile computing business unit, Campbell Kan, that the Acer plans to release a laptop with a display that supports 3D image. This notebook will be a 15.6-inch model which company jointly developed with Wistron. There are issue laptops to be held in October 2009. The 3D notebook from Acer will provides special software that will convert conventional “flat” regular 2D movies to 3D. It will also support direct 3D movie.

Interestingly, the 3D image on the screen of an Acer laptop can be seen without the use of stereoscopic glasses for the 3D. However, according to Campbell Kan at the moment this technology has quite a few technological obstacles to overcome. Also reported, Acer 3D laptop is running Windows 7 OS, so Acer announcement cannot take place until Microsoft has launches the OS officially presented. In addition, in 2010, they will be presented third-generation netbook which features is similar concept as smartbooks or MIDs with more better network connectivity and convenience functions, said Campbell Kan.
