TCL with its Alcatel brand has recently official unveiled a pair of new smartphones, the Alcatel One Touch Idol S and the Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini. The first handset is a mid-range smartphone, while the latter is low-end device. Two compact-form smartphones come with less 8mm thickness (just 7.4mm on the Idol S and 7.9mm on the Idol Mini).
Running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, the Alcatel One Touch Idol S boasts a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. In memory term, there is 4GB of internal storage but users can expansion storage capacity via a microSD card slot. New Alcatel Idol S phone packs a 4.7-inch (720 x 1280 pixels) touchscreen IPS display paired with an 8MP rear camera that allows 1080p video recording at 30fps. This phone will be available in three difference colors – Slate, Fresh Rose and Cherry Red.
Speaking of the mini trend, the Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini comes with a 4.3-inches touchscreen display and 480 x 854 pixels resolution. Under the hood, you’ll find the 1.3GHz dual-core processor (that’s weird since its higher clock speed than the higher brother). It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software that same version as the ‘regular’ model. The mini smartphone is equipped with 512 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot for further expansion storage.
Other notable features a 5MP camera on the back, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and HSPA+. Reportedly, the Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini will be arrive in two variants – single SIM and dual SIM. Especially for two SIM cards unit, the phone has 8GB of onboard storage but comes without microSD card slot. Buyers will able to choose either of Cranberry Pink, Silver and Slate color options.
