The Elan Microelectronics Corporation has indicated that it has sued Apple for patent infringement. Accordingly hurt Apple with the multi-touch panels in the MacBook, iPhone and iPod, the U.S. Patent Number 5,825,352 ( “Multiple fingers contact sensing method for emulating mouse buttons and mouse operations on a touch sensor pad“) and 7,274,353 ( “Capacitive Touchpad integrated with key and handwriting functions “).
Because the patent 5,825,352 (as of October 20, 1998) had already in March 2006 Elantech Devices Corp.., Then a subsidiary of Elan, the Synaptics touchpad manufacturer sued. Now merged with Elantech has Elan in October 2008 with Synaptics to cross-licensing agreements agreed.
Originally part of U.S. patent number 5,825,352 of the company Logitech, the touch pad their division at Elantech has sold.
