Apricorn Aegis Mini: Pocket External Hard Drive
Information is now worth its weight in gold, so no surprise that the developers of portable tools for mobile data storage focused on organizing an effective defense recorded on the storage of user files from unauthorized access by outsiders. So the company decided to offer Apricorn those who travels a lot or frequently goes to business travel, a kind of digital mini-safe “for the safe travelling of important documents, or photos, videos and music tracks”.
New product, called Apricorn Aegis Mini, is essentially a pocket external hard drives based on 1.8″ hard drive, whose spindle rotates at a speed of 4200 RPM. Two models are available, one with FireWire interface, another with USB 2.0. The device weighs 3.7oz of “packaged” in a solid enclosure with dimensions of 17mm X 68.5mm X 86mm, which reliably protects hard drive from the adverse effects of shocks. The product connects to a PC via Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and is compatible with the Platform for Windows, but to protect your valuable data using 128-bit AES-encryption. In doing so, the holder may drive at will on the disc to create two zones, one of which will be publicly available, and to be able to work with the content of the second will need to enter the pre-set password. The important thing for External hard drive is data transfer rate up to 480mbps (USB 2.0) and Up to 400 Mbps (FireWire).
