Asus has unveiled a budget-friendly tablet called the Asus MeMO Pad ME172V. This low-end Android tablet is expected available in the United States starting April 2013, while select markets in coming weeks.
Running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as its operating system, the Asus MeMO Pad ME172V tablet packs a 7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, 170ppi density, brightness of 350-nits, and 140 degrees viewing angle.
As low-cost tablet, the Asus MeMO Pad ME172V offers a 1GHz VIA WM8950 processor along with Mali 400 graphics. In memory term, there are 1GB of RAM, 8GB / 16GB of internal storage, and MicroSD card slot (up to 32GB).
New MeMO Pad ME172V Android tablet packs a 1MP front-facing camera with 720p video recording, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, orientation sensor, MicroUSB port and a standard headphone jack. Its battery life is up to 7 hours of use. Weighing about 370 grams, dimensions of Asus ME172V are 193 x 118 x 11 mm.
Available in white, pink, and gray color options, the Asus MeMO Pad ME172V tablet should be price tag around $150.
