Buffalo BR-X1216U3 first external Blu-ray burner with SuperSpeed USB 3.0

Buffalo Technology has announced the first external Blu-ray burner, that supports the connection of the latest high-speed USB 3.0, called Buffalo BR-X1216U3.
The USB 3.0 Interface is also known as SuperSpeed USB allows data transmission at speeds of up to 5 Gbps. This is an order of magnitude higher throughput widespread for USB 2.0, which the speed of data exchange is up to 480 Mbps.
Buffalo BR-X1216U3 drive is capable of writing dual-layer Blu-ray disc at speeds up to 12x, Blu-ray LTH at 6x and rewritable BD-RE discs at 2x. DVDs write single layer and dual layer at the speed of 16x and 8x respectively.
By the way, it is capable to write a Blu-ray single layer capacity of 25GB takes only 11 minutes. Buffalo BR-X1216U3 will be available in Japan at the end of December. It is cost at $451. No word on information availability on US or Europe market.
