Creative Zii Egg unique multimedia player and new Plaszma OS
The Singapore Company, Creative announced the release of the Zii Egg player, the first information on the web a few weeks ago. New Creative Zii Egg is the first device based on the Plaszma OS platform, which is based on the Zii ZMS-05 system on a chip. It developed a subdivision ZiiLABS, formed on the basis of the 3DLabs company, which Creative bought in 2002.
The functionality of the Creative Zii Egg player is unique. Existence Creative Zii has announced the January 2009 CES show. Specialists of the company talked about the era of StemCell Computing, implying that they were able to create a flexible, scalable and energy-efficient hardware platform, silicon analog of stem cells, on the basis of which it is possible in the shortest possible time to implement any function needed by the modern media device.
Creative Zii Egg is equipped with a 3.5-inch capacitive touch display with a resolution 320×480 pixel and support 10-point multi-gesture touch display technology, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Opera 9.7 web browser, 3-axis Accelerometer, hardware GPS receiver, 3.5-mm jack for headphones, speakers and microphone and two cameras (Forward facing HD camera and Rear facing VGA camera). Its battery has a capacity of 1,200 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion. The size of Creative Zii Egg is 115x62x12 mm and weight is 108g.
Creative Zii Egg media player can output to external sources of HD video with a resolution of 720p or 1080p and playback HD movie to HDTVs through HD cable. Zii Egg also supports OpenGL ES and the original X-Fi sound system. It has ability to work with the formats MP3, WMA, AAC, WMV, H.264, MPEG-4, AVI, MOV, and many others.
The player is equipped with 256MB Mobile DDR RAM, 32GB NOR (Linux Kernel Boot ROM), and slot for SDHC memory card. The device can run one of the two operating systems: a Plaszma OS based on the Linux or Google Android, optimized for use in conjunction with Zii ZMS-05.
Creative has released developer’s edition of the device with Zii Plaszma Starter Kit (SDK).
