Micron Technology has recently introduced its new solid state drives, the Crucial M500. Based on 20nm MLC NAND flash, this SSD will be available in 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB of capacities.
The older model of Crucial M500 has a 2.5-inch form factor, while the other will be arrive in mSATA and M.2. To connectivity, this storage is utilized Serial ATA 3.0 (6Gbps) interface. New Micron Crucial M500 SSD boasts Marvell 88SS9187-BLD2 controller and promises read and write speed of 500 MB/s and 130 – 400 MB/s (depending on version).
The 2.5-inch Crucial M500 SSD will go on sale in this quarter, while mSATA and M.2 form factors should be Q2 of this year. The price of 960GB Crucial M500 model will not exceed $600.
