Eurocom W860CU Cougar and W870CU Cheetah, Intel Calpella notebooks
Eurocom has announced two notebook based on the Intel Calpella platform; 15.6-inch W860CU Cougar and 17.3-inch W870CU Cheetah. The Intel Calpella, incidentally, is still preparing for the official release, it is assumed that it could take place on September 23. These Notebooks is based on motherboards with Intel PM55 chipset and a 1.6GHz Core i7 720QM, 1.73GHz i7 820QM or 2.0GHz i7 920XE processor. In addition, they support up to 16GB of RAM and hard drives up to 1.5TB (3x hard drives of 500GB).
As for graphics, user can choose the configuration of laptops with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, GTX 280M or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870XT, if required gaming experience, as well as the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M, turning laptops into high-performance workstations. Moreover, the screens of laptops have high-resolution 1920×1080 pixels and supports Full HD video.
In addition, Eurocom W860CU Cougar and W870CU Cheetah have expanded set of ports: 4x USB 2.0, DVI, Firewire IEEE1394a, RJ-45, RJ11, S/PDIF, HDMI, e-SATA, ExpressCard 34/54, microphone and headphones. Also, Eurocom W860CU Cougar and W870CU Cheetah laptops have wireless adapters; HSDPA, WiMax, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth, and protection against unauthorized access would provide a fingerprint sensor.
Eurocom W860CU Cougar and W870CU Cheetah turned out quite massive, their weight is 3.3kg and 4kg, respectively. They go on sale in early October. The cost of new products still does not know, but it is likely to be high, corresponding to the performance and the high class of these devices.
