Five new LSI SAS 6Gbps RAID controllers

Most recently, we reported on the announcement by Intel Corporation‘s new RAID controller, RS2BL080. It equipped with support for high-speed interface, 6Gbps SAS technology. And now the whole five such devices presented by LSI, a well-known manufacturer in the RAID controllers market.

The entire new RAID Controller, LSI SAS2108 MegaRAID 9200 series is based on the RAID-on-Chip (ROC). They are equipped with 512MB DDR2 memory, running at a frequency of 800 MHz, connected to the PCI-Express x8 interface, and supports hard drives with SATA 3Gbps and SAS 6Gbps interfaces. In addition, the bundled of the controller includes a software management tool, based on Java, simplifies the creation, maintenance and monitoring of RAID configurations.

According to LSI, MegaRAID SAS 9260-4i, 9260-8i and 9260DE-8i (with internal ports) RAID controllers has cost $389, $599 and $729 respectively. Cost models of MegaRAID SAS 9280-8e and 9280DE-8e (with external port) is $859 and $945.
