Fujitsu develops USB drive self-destruct: Two Technologies
Apr 18, 2009 Technology
Fujitsu has announced a new prototype USB stick with two new technologies to prevent the dissemination of data in case of loss of the pen, and avoid the burden of file-sharing networks. This technology means that, after a time the files on USB memory data are automatically deleted, so the technology to a specified server redirects all data. This creates a secure environment to protect confidential information and enable the USB memory devices being used to carry data with maximum security.
Fujitsu Laboratories and Fujitsu Laboratories of America have developed an environment that will allow data to be in a safe manner and in accordance with the security policy of companies. We detail below the main features of the environment:
1. Prototype secure USB memory stick
The new single prototype USB memory device has a processor and battery. After a period of time, if the USB memory device is connected to an unauthorized computer, data can be automatically deleted or USB memory device can become unusable.
2. Reorient technology file
Along with self-erasing USB memory device, the installation file to redirect the software on a PC can be used to restrict copying of data from USB memory stick, forcing them to reside only in memory and USB an enterprise server. This can also be used to prohibit that confidential data can be sent as an email attachment.
