Garmin-ASUS nuvifone G60 and M20 hits market
Garmin and ASUSTeK Computer have reported early sales Garmin-ASUS nuvifone G60 smartphone and nuvifone M20 communicator. First, they appear on the Asian market: already 27 July nuvifone G60 will be released in Taiwan, but at the end of August will be released in Singapore and Malaysia. Regarding the nuvifone M20, then in August it will go on sale in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Taiwan. In Europe and North America, two new items will be issued in the second half of this year, a more exact date and price have not yet been disclosed.
Recall, Garmin-ASUS nuvifone G60 is a smartphone that is running a special Linux distribution, obviously, first and last model is based on it. The unit is equipped with 3.55-inch touch screen in the front panel, 3MP camera, Wi-Fi adapter and Bluetooth, and, of course, GPS receiver. Garmin-ASUS nuvifone M20 communicator is running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (to be available to upgrade to version 6.5). Its characteristics are generally similar, only the display of smaller size: it is 2.8-inch.
As products of Garmin, nuvifone G60 and M20 have a high level of navigational ability. This is not just a mobile device with a GPS receiver: they will ship with this card in the regions and large databases of objects. In addition, the devices support LBS (location based) services, step-by-step instructions on the route, voice comments, can bind to the captured photos of the coordinates (geo-tagging) and so on.
