Garmin delays nuvifone G60 phone
We have already reported that Garmin-ASUS and last February, re-announced its joint development, phone browser nuvifone G60. This mobile device is created on the platform of the Linux distributions and it is designed for navigation, communication and work in the network. At nuvifone G60 should be preinstalled maps of North America, Western and Eastern Europe, which includes millions of “points of interest” (POI), all of which might be useful traveler.
Information about the release date and cost of nuvifone G60 does not deliver, it was only that it may appear for sale in the first half of this year. Now, however, dates its output is likely to be transferred to the third quarter. President and Chief Operating Officer of Garmin Cliff Pemble, during his speech at the conference on the financial results of the first quarter is quite extensively described the difficulties faced developers nuvifone G60. According to him, smart phones are fairly complex devices. Thus, one of them in fact zero, based on a special version of Linux is not an easy task.
Recall originally nuvifone G60 was announced in January 2008 and it release was promised in the third quarter of that year. Thus, if information about the next delay is confirmed, release of the phone-browser can take place only after a year of the originally promised time frame. All this, of course, does not add credibility to the project, by its very nature is interesting not only for lovers of travel.
