Garmin nuvi 1690 GPS Navigator with EDGE data

August 4th, 2009 | Filed under GPS 0 Comments

Federal Communications Commission United States (FCC) certified Garmin nuvi 1690 GPS navigator. Based on the documentation of FCC site, the model will have the support not only the wireless Bluetooth interface, and cellular networks GSM/GPRS/EDGE. Garmin nuvi 1690 uses an embedded Wavecom Q2687 GSM Adapter.

Apparently, the Garmin nuvi 1690 will use cellular networks for a variety of data relevant to the driver’s car. This may be data on the real-time traffic, updating the POI databases, Google Local searches and the like. Garmin nuvi 1690 allows connecting to a mobile phone and using it as a hands-free car system through Bluetooth support. The capacity of the battery device is 1,000 mAh, presumably on the front panel should be a large touch screen. While difficult to say when the novelty will be available from official sources, it is not known.
