Google: 18 Android phones by this year
Google has officially announced that this year will be released to the market, at least 18 phones on the market worldwide based on Android operating system. The statement was made by Andy Rubin, senior director for Mobile Platforms for Google and the spearhead of the Android operating system. According to him, until the end of the year will be from 18 to 20 mobile devices based on Android. However, he refused to disclose names of companies and suppliers. At this point in the sale are two Android phones: T-Mobile G1 in the U.S. and HTC Magic in Europe. In addition, the model has already been announced I7500 from Samsung, running this operating system and there is an informal information about upcoming products from LG, Sony Ericsson and Motorola.
Andy Rubin also noted that in Europe the increase in the number of available sales of mobile devices based on Android will be much faster than in the United States. This is due to the fact that the American market is extremely competitive, and each operator prefers to first adapt the devices for its network, integrating their own recognizable projects, and the like. All this, Andy Rubin told at conference in San Francisco for developers of applications for Android phones, which Google holds these days for developers.
