With its help its can send compressed surround sound through any intermediate device, for example, home theater receiver, without using a separate optical audio cable. The new standard also supports future video, including allowing up to 4K (4096 x 2160), 3D image and color spaces, implemented in digital cameras. In addition, recently submitted to micro HDMI connector will be part of the HDMI 1.4 standard and it will pass FullHD video with miniature devices, including portable media players and compact cameras.
