HDMI 1.4 Standard to broadcast 3D video
Dec 28, 2009 Miscellaneous, Technology
HDMI Licensing, dedicated to the design specification of the HDMI interface, in early January, will present a new version of the standard audio and video.
One of the major innovations in the new HDMI 1.4 is the ability to broadcast 3D video picture quality up to 1080p (1920×1080 pixels resolution). Thus, it will be possible to use a single cable for simultaneous broadcast quality audio stream and the volumetric images on new generation of TV.
Another important change in the HDMI 1.4 is adding a separate line for Ethernet connection with bandwidth of up to 100 Mbps. The HDMI Ethernet Channel Technology will transmit the video stream, audio and data over a single cable.
HDMI 1.4 Standard includes an Audio Return Channel technology, providing the possibility of transferring the audio to receive TV tuner, the cinema sound system. Among other things, the HDMI 1.4 is support of the authorizations above 1080p and HDMI Micro Connector for portable devices such as smart phones and media players.
It is expected that equipment that conforms to the HDMI 1.4 standard will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2010) exhibition, which will be held in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), January 7-10, 2010.
