HDMI 1.4 supports bi-directional audio, ethernet, and full HD 1080p 3D

Organization of HDMI Licensing, certification dedicated HDMI interface, released a list of options that will be included in the specifications of its new version of HDMI 1.4. In addition, promised that the full specification of this standard will be published until 30 June 2009. The new interface includes many new features, for example, the function Ethernet connections, support for 3D content in Full HD solving, and bi-directional audio (aka “upstream audio”).

With the HDMI Ethernet Channel the new high-speed HDMI 1.4 supports data transfer rate up to 100 MB/s, which you use an HDMI cable for the Ethernet connection. In addition, media content coming from the network, it can use several devices that support this standard.

The new interface also includes an audio return channel (ARC), which allows simultaneous transmit audio with bi-directional. This feature can be useful, for example, if you want to send the audio signal from TV tuner to the HDTV via an amplifier. In this case you do not need additional cables, since the exchange of data between the tuner and TV receiver and amplifier runs on a single interface.

HDMI 1.4 interface supports transfer of 3D content in Full HD quality resolution of up to 1080p. Its “real-time content recognition”, it can automatically switches between video settings depending on which devices are plugged in and additional color spaces. The maximum resolution for new standard is 4096 x 2160 pixels (size 4K x 2K). This interface will be useful, and the owners of digital cameras, as equipped with the support of color profiles; sYCC601, Adobe RGB, and AdobeYCC601.

In addition, the list of specifications for a HDMI 1.4 standard for Micro HDMI connector, intended for use in portable devices. Despite the small size (about 50% size the current HDMI Mini port and use 19-pin connector), Micro HDMI supports Full HD quality and resolution of 1080p.
