The Home Theater PC (HTPC) are intended to serve as a central computer from home, and usually are placed in the living room. Logically, a computer in the classroom can be used for many things, being only the first of them to replace our DVD player. Its utility as encompassing everything from play our movies and audio files without the need for favorite DVDs through, right from your hard drive or streaming, to surf the Internet from your sofa. Turning in the midst of this, by putting a powerful graphics, connect a USB joypad (or a steering wheel, joystick or all together) and replace our console forever.

I suppose that many will now be raised, even remotely, the possibility of buying one. For those who’re thinking well, you know that, for less than € 300 and you can find some more than decent, especially if you ride a parts shop specializing in one. For those who do not like the option to mount one piece at a time or do not have the necessary knowledge, you can go to a supermarket and ask there for a computer room, although they often go up a bit in price. The characteristics of all HTPC often:

* You have a box that makes them seem more a computer appliance
* They are silent, or almost, as it is rather uncomfortable in the classroom listening to the sound of your fan all day
* The keyboard and mouse to be wireless
* To take a particular operating system for HTPCs, such as Microsoft Windows Media Center, Media Center Edition or Linux Mythubuntu (a version of Ubuntu for HTPCs)
* They often have an infrared remote control for multimedia programs that we and our operating system for HTPCs. Is replaced by a wireless mouse if you prefer.
* Often have a small LCD to display basic information. P. ex. “Playing: The Lord of the Rings 00:15:36?
* You have a TDT capture card and a good sound card for audio output 8-channel high-definition and be able to watch and record TV.
* We strongly recommend that they are accompanied by a FullHD TV and the computer has HDMI or DVI, to be able to view everything in high definition
* Often have a large hard drive, as is the entertainment of the things that occupy GB (all games now come in one or two DVDs, a movie in HD takes up more than 5GB …)

As can be seen with the naked eye, a computer and not only will we be able to manage multimedia content from our couch, but also is useful for any other task recostados navigate, view photos from Flickr, or Facebook on a screen much bigger than that of your computer (most people now have TVs of 32 inches or more and computer monitors, 19″ or more), chatting as you watch a movie with plenty of room for both , download and view without having to burn a DVD or move from one side to another external hard drive and multimedia … And if you do not say a WiFi network of shared files on your home!
