LaCie has expanded its lineup of mobile hard drives that provides shock protection, called LaCie Rugged USB 3.0. It is performed in 2.5-inch form factor.
This external HDD is suitable for any computer including desktops or laptops. LaCie Rugged is utilized SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, which is claimed data transfer rate up to 110 MB/s.
LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 drive is enclosed in unique scratch-resistant aluminum housing, whole of its side packed rubber pads to internal anti-shock absorbers and a shock-resistant rubber bumper. According to the manufacturer, this portable HDD can drop-resistant up to 2.2 meters. This award-winning rugged casing is designed by Neil Poulton.
The LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 portable hard disk has capacity of 500GB with 7200 rpm speed. It is bundled with LaCie Backup Assistant and LaCie Setup Assistant, which responsible for backing up data, recovery and configuration of hard drive. LaCie also offers a one-year subscription to Wuala service that provides 10GB of online storage.
Size of LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 portable HDD is 90x28x145 mm and weight 241g. It will become available for purchased in May 2010 with priced at $149.99.
