Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch ultrabook made official, now available

As expected, Lenovo has officially announced its Windows 8-optimized laptop, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch. Wrapped by superior grade carbon fiber, this machine is the world’s lightest 14-inch touch-enabled notebook. According to press release, new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is currently available at its web store starting price of $1,499.

Specs-wise of new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch laptop is similar to the regular Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon. It sports an Intel Core i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge processor and its battery that enough juice for 8.2 hours of runtime. The X1 Carbon Touch packs a 14-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixel and 10-finger touch support,

Like another ThinkPads, new one provides a multi-gesture touch pad and signature red pointing stick. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is built-in 3G and Dolby Home Theater v4 audio technology.

Offering high-end video conferences and recordings, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch ultrabook delivers dual-array microphones paired with an HD face-tracking camera. This laptop is also one of the first ultrabook to have certified for Microsoft Lync optimized. The X1 Carbon Touch is a bit heavier and thicker compare than the non-touch model (20.8mm and 3.5 pounds, instead of 18mm and 3 pounds).
