LG Electronics unveiled a new series of notebooks, WIDEBOOK. The notebook series consists of five models; R580/R560 with a diagonal of 15.6-inch, R480/R460 with a diagonal of 14-inch, and R380 with 13.3-inch screen. All WIDEBOOK series models have aspect ratio of 16:9 and LED backlight. The basis of this series of notebooks is the Intel Core 2 Duo. These Notebooks have 2GB or 4GB of RAM and graphics card are solutions based on NVIDIA GeForce chips (up to 1GB of video memory).

The company is positioning notebooks in this series as a replacement for desktops. LG R580 and R480 is the older premium model with excellent performance and design, LG R560 and R460 is a reliable workhorse, and R380 is as an affordable solution with acceptable performance. In the older model LG R580 is Blu-ray drive. Their communication is capabilities worth noting the presence of wireless communication 3G module, e-SATA Port and HDMI connectors. Also it provides 1.3-megapixel webcam for video chatting.

LG WIDEBOOK series has bundled with Smart Pack software to configure and diagnose errors. It includes programs; Smart Indicator, Smart Care, and Smart Recovery. In addition LG R380 notebook is Smart On, allows user to load the operating system for 5 seconds. LG R580/R560 and R480/R460 has black and white color. For additional, LG R380 is available another color, pink.

Sales of LG WIDEBOOK notebook series is expected in September this year. And, at first they appear in Turkey, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, and then in Europe, Asia, USA and Latin America. Information on pricing is not yet.
