micro-USB phone charger standard

The largest suppliers of mobile devices has supported by the European Commission to establish a universal standard for charging mobile phones. Apple, LG, Motorola, Nokia, RIM, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson will equip their device connector Micro-USB, through which they can be charged. Thus models of various manufacturers will be able to maintain common chargers. This will be much more convenient for users. By the initiative had also chipset manufacturers; NEC, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments.

At this time, several companies have already used as the interface for charging the Micro-USB, but there are also proprietary standards, such as HTC ExtUSB of double adapter or Sony Ericsson. As a result, charger mobile phones from some phones do not fit the other, which creates many problems for end users. It is surprising that the initiative to standardize chargers, among others, supported the company and Apple, which traditionally uses its own Dock Connector. This project promotes the organization and the GSM Association, it is expected that a full transition to a single standard will occur by 2012.
