Movement gestures in iPhone, Apple signed patent

April 6th, 2009 | Filed under Apple, iPhone 1 Comment

Apple is signed another patent, entitled Movement-based interfaces for personal media device. That it is to create systems of mobile devices using various hand movements. All iPhone owners are aware of their built-in accelerometer communicators. It is used when switching between portrait and landscape mode display on the screen, as well as in some video games.

Why is the scope of the accelerometer in the iPhone so narrow? Indeed, with its help it is possible to control various functions, such as playing music. It takes just shake communicator to move to the next track in the music collection. Such a system has long been realized, for example, music phones, Sony Ericsson. On a similar principle and described in the patent, Apple.

However, the experts, read the patent application, and came in slightly puzzled. In fact, most of the systems described therein, is already well known and used by other companies in their devices. But let such subtleties headache lawyers Apple. The normal fellow users will certainly be interesting to see the “new” management system, integrated into the user interface for the next generations of iPhone OS 4.0 or 5.0 release.

One Opinion about “Movement gestures in iPhone, Apple signed patent

  1. The Apple rumor mill is once again running overtime on the topic of netbooks. If you believe the reports, Steve Jobs is himself leading the charge. My take: Whatever Apple does, it won?t be a netbook in the usual sense, I also bet that Apple, if it does anything, will itself avoid using the n-word to describe it.
