“Netbook Pro” computer, Psion defends “netbook” trademark

To taste or desperation some of us, the term “NETBOOK” has been used again and again to refer to small notebooks designed to be tools for web browsing and light work, but the small problem we discovered is that a few weeks ago a company, Psion, has already registered the word as a product of the same name.

Now, for a company to maintain a trademark, you should make active use of it, as something that Intel and other large industry Psion would not have done, it is their right to use the word “NETBOOK” their craving.

Not willing to lose this potential source of income, Psion now claims it can not be a big seller of laptops, but still maintains its current line of Netbooks too, with sales recorded to today, which would be making use of its patent . Sadly, Psion appears to have been shot in the foot with this statement, for in their own web site can see their netbooks gathering dust in the “Discontinued Products”.
