New iPod and iPhone could support Wi-Fi 802.11n with low power
iPhone 4G IV with 802.11n support a recent rumor that the new iPhone will be “faster to access the Internet”, AppleInsider has revealed today that the specifications of radio components in the wireless firmware of iPhone OS 3.0 point to support a new chip that enables the 802.11n standard for low power, probably one of the novelties of the new generation of iPhones and iPods touch.
The evolution is more than expected (since we want merge desktop and notebook); the only question was when it’s landed in Apple’s mobile platform. Again, Broadcom will be responsible for supplying the component, which Broadcom BCM4329 chip has the ability to connect to 5GHz 802.11n networks. It has PMU (power management unit) and a shared Bluetooth and WiFi receive.
It is, with so many rumors of a possible support OpenCL, improvements in 3G networks and multi-core chips, the aim should be that Apple’s end to any and all comment on issues of speed in the new iPhone.
