Nokia opens the source code for the H.264/MPEG-4 MVC (Multi-view Video Coding) standard
Nokia has announced the opening of free access to the source code MVC (Multi-view Video Coding) codec for H.264/MPEG-4/AVC. Reported that the MVC code standard is fully optimized for different tasks in mobile devices, it has includes a player for the Maemo environment. This enables developers to take advantage of this code to solve their problems.
MVC Standard is an addition to the H.264/AVC codecs, designed to compress video with high quality. It allows you to efficiently encode the synchronous information from multiple cameras using a single stream of video data. This standard can be applied to compress the 3D video, 3D TV and FTV systems that allow viewers to control the point of view of the scene on the screen. Additionally, MVC has a backward compatibility with H.264/AVC codecs, which makes possible its wide application in different devices that can display 2D and 3D image.
