NVIDIA has officially announced their next generation Ion graphics processor, called the NVIDIA ION 2. It is designed for nettops, small form factor, netbooks, and all-in-one PCs, likes the original NVIDIA Ion.
The NVIDIA ION2 is able to playback of HD video and supports NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, which is automatically switch between the NVIDIA Ion 2 GPU and integrated GMA 3150 graphics on Intel Pine Trail platform.
The first products to get the next generation NVIDIA Ion 2 are Asus Eee PC 1201PN netbook, Lenovo C200 all-in-one PC, Acer Aspire One 532G, Zotac Zbox HD-ID11 nettop, and Asus EeeTop 2010PNT. According to source, there are some more Ion 2-powered devices including Zotac, AOpen, Foxconn, Asus, AsRock, Pegatron, Shuttle, J&W, and POV.
