According to the general manager for NVIDIA’s mobile business unit Mike Rayfield, the company believes Windows CE solution to smartbook based on NVIDIA Tegra. This platform uses ARM processors, except for Windows CE, it is compatible with them, for example, an operating system such as Android. However, NVIDIA was not satisfied with its user interface and a Windows CE finds further developed and best software platform for smartbook.

NVIDIA Tegra platform is enhanced multimedia capabilities. It supports HD video, and it is characterized by low power consumption, which is extremely attractive to smartbook. According to NVIDIA, smartbook based Tegra will be able to play music for 25 days and the HD video for 10 hours, whereas the figures for the Intel Atom netbook significantly weaker is 5 and 3 hours respectively. From the perspective of working with high-resolution graphics, an important factor is the fact that no Android support hardware graphics accelerators. All graphics processing is based on the Java code, it is too slow for HD, notes Rayfield. By the way, he refused to comment on rumors that the Zune HD media player from Microsoft will use the NVIDIA Tegra.
