OCZ Technology has announced launch its 1.8-inch solid state drives (SSD), the OCZ Vertex 2 and OCZ Onyx. Both SSDs series are designed for netbook use and for consumers looking for a quality SSD.
OCZ Vertex 2 and Onyx SSD is using MLC NAND flash memory, SATA 3 Gbps, and support for TRIM of Windows 7 feature, which allow to extend the life of the drive and optimize its performance.
The Onyx SSD is available in two versions – 32GB and 64GB of capacities. It is deliver speed up to 120 MB/s in read and 145 MB/s in write for 32GB, while the 64GB has 70MB/s read and 135MB/s write. OCZ Onyx SSD has feature 500000 hours of MTBF, 64 MB buffer cache, and Indilinx Amigos controller.
The Vertex SSD is based on two SandForce SF-1200 controller and provides transfer speed of 285 MB/s in reading and 275 MB/s in writing. It is enabling up to 50000 I/O operations per second (IOPS) in 4KB random data. OCZ Vertex SSD is comes in 60GB, 120GB and 240GB of capacity.
OCZ Vertex 2 backed by a three-year warranty, but OCZ Onyx has just a two-year. Their cost is not reported.
