OCZ Technology Group has recently released a pair of 2.5-inch enterprise class solid state drives, namely OCZ Vertex 2 Pro and OCZ Vertex 2 EX. Both OCZ drives come with ECC protection enabling RAID-like recovery and protection, TRIM feature of Windows 7 OS, which allow extending the life of SSD and optimizing its performance.
OCZ Vertex 2 Pro and Vertex 2 EX SSDs is sports SandForce SF-1500 controller. Both SSDs are delivers maximum read and write speeds of 285 MB/s and 275 MB/s, up to 50,000 IOPS (Input/Output per second) at 4KB random writes, and a MTBF (mean time before failure) of 2 million hours.
OCZ Vertex 2 Pro and Vertex 2 EX can connect to computer using SATA 3 Gbps or (Serial Attached SCSI) 6.0 Gbps connectivity. The OCZ Vertex 2 Pro SSD series are based on MLC NAND flash memory chips, while OCZ Vertex 2 EX SSD series are used SLC NAND flash memory.
OCX Vertex 2 Pro SSDs are available in capacities for 50GB, 100GB, 200GB, and 400GB (417 EUR, 621 EUR, 1028.5 EUR, and 2227.63 EUR, respectively). OCZ Vertex 2 EX SSDs have capacity of up to 200GB but their price is not reported.
