Panasonic has announced their rugged compact camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT2 outside the US). It is a successor of Panasonic DMC-TS1. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 is a dustproof, shockproof against a drop of up to 2m, waterproof to 10m, and freezeproof down to -10°C.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT2 camera is equipped with 14.1 megapixel sensor, a high-quality LEICA DC VARIO ELMAR 28mm wide-angle lens with a 4.6x optical zoom, a faster Venus Engine HD II processor.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 is implemented as a Power O.I.S optical stabilization, Face Detection automatically detects a face in the frame, video recording from 1280×720 HD movies at 30fps in AVCHD Lite, and produces 1920×1080 still images.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 camera is equipped with 2.7-inch display, a timer for 2s and 10s, mini-HDMI port, 40MB of integrated memory, and a SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot. Dimensions of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT2 are 99x63x24 mm and weight is about 190g (with battery). It offers in silver, blue, orange and yellow colors.

Release date and price of this rugged camera is not known.
