Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra rugged tablet

Japanese company, Panasonic has just announced the release of an updated version of its Toughbook ruggedized tablet, called the Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra. The previous model was announced in 2008.

It is combine the portability of a handheld computer, the durability needed for enterprise applications, the benefits of a full Windows OS, and a suite of available integrated features.

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra rugged tablet is boasts a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor (instead 1.33GHz Atom Z520), 64GB SSD (instead of 16GB/32GB, 2GB of RAM (previously 1GB only), and pre-installed with Windows 7 OS (with XP downgrade option).

New Panasonic Toughbook U1 Ultra tablet has a 5.6-inch transflective touchscreen display with resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, 6000 cd/m2 brightness, and sunlight-viewable.

Upon request, the Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra can be equipped with a fingerprint reader, 2 megapixel camera, Gobi2000 mobile broadband (EV-DO and HSPA), GPS and 1D/2D barcode scanners. In this case, Panasonic Toughbook U1 Ultra is packs Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1, as well as a slot for SD memory card.

Their housing is met MIL-STD-810G and IP65, which is made of rubber, durable plastic and magnesium alloy.

The cost of the Panasonic Toughbook U1 Ultra durable tablet is start from $2,799.
