Good news at Computex Taipei 2009, taking advantage of PCMCIA standard. PCMCIA announced the official launch of ExpressCard standard 2.0, the latest version of standard for expansion of notebook systems.
This ExpressCard 2.0 is designed for use on laptops, such as expansion bay where you can connect cards with extra connections or even for use with memory SSD, but the use of USB 2.0 is much higher for accessories. Despite all this, PCMCIA refuses to let it die in peace and show that version 2.0 is really faster.
Now get transfer speeds 10 times greater than ExpressCard Standard 1.2 (previous model), something that SSD memory expansion comes great. ExpressCard 2.0 comes to improved performance of eSATA (E-Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) adapter for external HDD, high-perfomance for storage module such as SSD (solid-state drives), and high-performance for media streaming (video adapter).
This new version will support the latest versions of PCI Express and USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed USB, transfer rate up to 5Gbps), like the old version but with their updates.
