PCMCIA introduced ExpressCard 2.0 Specification

PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) announced at CeBIT a new version of the standard ExpressCard 2.0. The developers note that the speed of data transmission via ExpressCard 2.0 to exceed the speed of ExpressCard 1.2 to approximately 10 times, depending on the protocol.

Connectors ExpressCard 2.0 will be used to enhance the ability of notebook PCs.

Among the options for the use of ExpressCard 2.0, it will benefit through increased productivity, eSATA adapter to connect to external hard drives, high-performance media / video adapters, and SSD-drives. ExpressCard 2.0 Standard will support the latest versions of specifications for PCI Express and USB (SuperSpeed) and data transfer rate up to 5 Gbps. In doing so, ExpressCard 2.0 is backward-compatible with previously released products.
