Pegatron, which is a division of the ASUS, introduced unnamed netbook prototype. This “unnamed demo unit” is based on 1GHz Freescale iMX515 CPU (ARM Cotex A8 chip).
This chip is similar in terms of Texas Instruments OMAP 3440 (600 MHz) and it is the processor for Palm Pre.
Pegatron netbook is equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, webcam, a couple of USB port, card reader, D-Sub connector, UMTS modem and GPS receiver. The battery operation is 2-cell battery and it provided life time from 4.5 to 8 hours depending on the mode of operation. It is also reported that Pegatron netbook supports playback of HD video format in 720p (1280×720 pixels), and capable runs 3D games.
There is no information about when hits to market. It is possible that Pegatron will produce it for other companies to ODM scheme.
