Pegatron netbook, super-slim and ARM powered

June 7th, 2009 | Filed under Laptop 0 Comments

We already wrote about the Wistron N900z smartbook, which it is based on a Freescale processor, and it was demonstrated at the Computex, Freescale Semiconducters booth. But, except for it’s, it was demonstrated another interesting device, netbook from Pegatron. It also built based on the Freescale i.MX515 with a clock speed of 800 MHz. This netbook has running Xandros Linux (ARM processors do not support the Windows XP, Vista, or 7). Pegatron netbook has use of 4 GB SSD for storing data.

The characteristics of the device also show the presence Wi-Fi Adapters, Bluetooth, and build-in UMTS and GPS-receiver. Netbook has enclosed in a thin and light body: the weight does not exceed 800 grams. In addition, an important advantage of this solution is a long time of autonomous battery work, up to 8 hours without recharging the battery. It is not clear when the Pegatron netbook will go on sale, and how much it will cost. Presumably, the cost netbook on ARM-processors from Pegatron and Wistron may be less than $ 200.
