Pentax first showed a prototype digital camera, 645D medium format digital camera even four years ago. All this time the fate of the project remained unclear: release dates postponed, stopped work on the camera again and restart it, then stopped again (last time it happened last summer).
Pentax representatives now say that work on the camera (and its attendant lens SMC Pentax-D FA645 55mm f/2.8) again revived. The first functional prototype will be presented at the Photo Imaging Expo in Tokyo, and sell the camera should appear in the second half of 2009. Already aware that the Pentax 645D will be sold in Japan and will not be sold in the U.S., output devices to the European market still in question. Pentax predicted it would only sell 200 units.
In any case, we recommend that fans quickly medium format digital camera lenses for Pentax 645 system until they soared in price (it certainly happens after the 645D).
