Philips Cinema 21:9 live, too big?

February 1st, 2009 | Filed under Home Entertainments 0 Comments

When Philips announced its Cinema 21:9 I think the question that everyone was done was “what the hell you need a 21:9 screen?”. I suppose the answer is the same one that answered the question of why we need a 50-inch screen? Or why you need a screen with a contrast 1.000.000:1? Well, for anything, but say it looks good.

The first images of this super-widescreen display beginning to be with his presentation in the UK. The screen has a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels, Full HD playback, okay, but cut the film? The resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels by 640 pixels you have on the sides unused. Fortunately Philips is the way that films are cut and fall neatly into this huge decision.

Again, why? It’s just that … I understand the need for high definition, large screens in 16:9 or 16:10, but this picture, is it really necessary?.
