PixelQi 3Qi: 3-in-1 display next month
Apr 24, 2009 Technology
The OLPC XO is not a nice idea, but beautiful. But one of the problems with delivering computers to all school children is that the screens of today are not designed to replace textbooks. PixelQi hopes this problem with a kind of revolutionary hybrid panel could reach the next generation of portable education (above).
Mary Lou Jepsen, former OLPC founder and the company claims that its 10-inch screen 3Qi combine a low-power mode in black and white with other e-paper, and finally, as a high-resolution LCD to work requiring a conventional monitor. Oh, and above may be read without problems in the sunlight. According to the executive, “the screens should be no televisions, hence, his efforts to change our perception.
More curious still are his statements on how the screens of the future chips will work as a motherboard, saving energy and improving the graphics. Do you think so? We will have time to see if all these claims are realized when the first prototype will be presented next month.
