Plat’Home OpenBlockS 600 compact and durable Linux micro server
Japanese company, Plat’Home has expanded its line of mini-server model, OpenBlockS 600. The Plat’Home OpenBlockS 600 is compact and durable Linux micro server, so compact that literally can fit in the palm of your hand. It has dimensions of new OpenBlockS 600 are 133x81x32 mm and weight is 240g.
The OpenBlockS 600 comes with PowerPC 405EX processor with 600 MHz, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 128MB Flash ROM (user are: 32MB), slot for CompactFlash as removable storage. Plat’Home OpenBlockS 600 is equipped with a dual Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 2.0 port.
OpenBlockS 600 is positioned as an energy-efficient web server; power consumption of OpenBlockS 600 is only about 8.0 Wh.
Plat’Home OpenBlockS 600 mini server is preinstalled Plat’Home software based on Linux OS. However, according to manufacture, it had been tested for compatibility with operating systems; Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.
Sales of OpenBlockS 600 portable server have already begun since October 1st 2009, shipping start in October 31st (planned) and its recommended price is $599.
