Plextor, well known manufacturer of optical drives, has just announced a 2-bay network attached storage (NAS) device, called Plextor PX-NAS2. It is designed for small office and home office use (SoHo).
The Plextor PX-NAS2 allows for two HDDs in the 3.5-inch form factor and up to 4TB of capacities. It sports two USB 2.0 ports and support DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 that allows connecting to CE product.
Plextor PX-NAS2 NAS server is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet and can operate as an HTTP/FTP or iTunes server. The front panel of PX-NAS2 2-bay NAS includes LED status, and one USB port. Size of new Plextor PX-NAS2 2-bay NAS is 135.4×120.3×254.5 mm.
This NAS server will be available next month. Cost of Plextor PX-NAS2 without HDD has price tag €179, with two 500GB and 1TB HDD is €285 and €389 respectively.
The package will include Memeo software for backup, restore, sharing and synchronize files.
