Samsung and Intrinsity announced the joint development of the fastest in the mobile processor industry 45 nanometer (nm) core based on ARM Cortex-A8. The new Cortex-A8 implementation has received a code name Hummingbird, provides specific performance in 2,000 DMIPS at a frequency of 1GHz and has low power consumption.
Samsung Hummingbird has a 32KB cache for data and instructions, as well as an L2 cache and the expansion of the processing of ARM NEON multimedia content. As the developers, thanks to its high performance and low power consumption the new Hummingbird will be able to bring in future mobile device features and increased performance without reducing the time.
Reported, Samsung Corporation has already begun to develop standard mobile SoC (system on chip) products, using 45 nm core of Hummingbird.
