On the passing of SID Display Week show in Korea, Samsung Electronics demonstrated its new development, a 10.2-inch prototype display, which combines e-paper technology and a liquid crystal matrix (LCD) video display standard.
Moreover, the combined display allows users to switch from one display mode to another, i.e. to operate from a “store of information” (memory mode) like typical of the e-paper, the usual dynamic display, allowing the transfer of moving images.
Permission to display until the test sample is small at 320 x 240 pixels and the number of displayed colors to them is only 64 colors. Nevertheless, the Samsung announced that the prototype has a reflectivity of at least 10% and response time it is not more than 25 ms. in further developing these indicators, obviously, much improved. However, the timing of this idea of “shifting the display” in the final product has not yet been named.
