Samsung Electronics presented a hard drive with new capacity, Spinpoint M7. Its HDD is made in the 2.5-inch form factor. It is suitable for high-end mobile PCs, such as notebook or netbook.
Samsung Spinpoint M7 has maximum amount of up to 640GB (using two plates of 320 GB each), provides spindle speed 5400 rpm. This Samsung’s hard drive also has 8MB cache memory and using SATA II interface.
The new Samsung Spinpoint M7 is offers shock resistance level of 400G (2ms) in operation mode and 900G (1ms) when power is off. The disc is based on rigid chassis and solid outer shell with increased protection from external influences. The model supports SilentSeek and Noise Guard technology, which has reduced the noise during drive operation. In addition, new Samsung Spinpoint M7 is produced without the use of halogen-containing substances and fully meets the requirements of RoHS (the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
Currently, the Samsung Spinpoint M7 is available in 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, and 640GB. The new 640GB Samsung Spinpoint M7 HDD will go on sale in September for about 640GB.
