Silicon Image introduced 3D, ARC and Ethernet capable HDMI 1.4 hardware
Silicon Image, a well-known manufacturer of computer accessories, introduced a new SiI9387 port processor and SiI9334 transmitter. The main feature of these devices is that they were the first products that carried the latest HDMI 1.4 interface. Recall the specification of the new version of HDMI interface has been developed relatively recently.
Reported, new SiI9387 port processor and SiI9334 transmitter will be used in solutions for digital TV and Home Theater. They are fully compatible with the HDMI 1.4 specifications and include all the functional features of the new interface. For example, they supported the technology; HDMI Ethernet Channel, can provide two-way network connection speed of up to 100 Mbps, as well as the Audio Return Channel, allowing transmitting compressed surround sound through any intermediate device without using a single optical cable. In addition, the HDMI 1.4 interface implements new graphics content, for example, permits up to 4096 x 2160 pixels, as well as the transfer of 3D images, and expanded color space.
It was expected that the first samples of the SiI9387 port processor and SiI9334 transmitter from Silicon Image will be presented in the second half of this year. As for consumer products that support the HDMI 1.4 interface, including HDTVs and Blu-ray players, we certainly don’t expect to appear before the beginning of 2010.
