Skytone Alpha 680: First Android netbook and only $250

We have already written in the news about the first netbook based Android platform, Alpha 680 from Skytone. This 7-inch model is based on ARM11 CPU running at 533 MHz, it provides from 2 to 4 hours of autonomous work (all equipped with a 2-cell battery). Alpha 680 features a simple, previously it was assumed that netbook will be sold for $ 100, but, as stated by Computerworld, Nixon Wu, one of the founders of the company, the device will cost $ 250. It was expected that the final prototype of Alpha 680 will be ready in June, while sales netbook begin in a month or two after that. Wu also noted that the slats in the $ 100 per netbook, company may be able to reach a later date.
In general, experts expect that very soon the market will start a real “boom” netbook is running Android, an operating system that originally was used for smartphones. There are rumors that Android netbook currently preparing the HP company, although its executive director has refused to officially comment on this information. Also, such devices are likely to be released ASUS and Dell. The operating system Android could attract manufacturers that are free, unlike, for example, Windows. Thus, the absence of royalties will help quite significantly reduce the cost netbook.
