Sony Ericsson Drop Memory Stick Micro cards

June 3rd, 2009 | Filed under Mobile Phones 0 Comments

Rectify is wise. Sony Ericsson mobile phone has abandoned Memory Stick Micro cards as storage media. According Fortuné Alexander, director of marketing for the firm, future phone will be paid to the majority of industry standard: microSD.

It is not the first time that Sony is pushing a single proprietary format, as happened with Betamax tapes or songs in ATRAC. And the consequences are especially for the user, in the case of Sony Ericsson cards are more expensive than the standard and the mobile phone cannot use the card that was already passing its previous device.

The movement, however, appeared to be coming. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 announced over a year ago this change, and last week Sony Ericsson filed three other mobile phone with microSD card: Satio, Aino, and Yari. It’s like the reaction is a bit late, but better late than never.
