Sony Corp. officially announced a thin version of its PlayStation 3 game console, formerly known as the rumored Sony PS3 Slim. The new console is built on a compact Cell processors and RSX. In general, as a result of modernization, the company reduced its thickness by one third, and the weight is at 36 percent. If the current version of PlayStation 3 has the dimensions 325 x 98 x 274 mm, with nearly 5 kg of weight, the thin model similar figures are 290 x 65 x 290 mm and 3.2 kg. In addition, the new console has a hard drive capacity of 120GB (for existing models, the figure is 80GB and 160GB) and has retained its functional features, including Blu-ray, two USB ports and the integrated module Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g. In doing so, its energy consumption is reduced to 250 watts.

Sales thin version of the console to begin in the first week of September in all countries where the currently available PlayStation 3, but its cost would be $299. At the same time, Sony reduces from 19 August to mark the same price for an existing model with an 80GB hard drive. This was made possible by reducing the cost of production of the game consoles.
