Sony, without fanfare, they have held a series of Vaio TT ultraportable notebook from its product line. In so doing, the Japanese company summed up its participation in the development and production of Ultra-mobile computers. The exception is the recently presented model Vaio P and Vaio W based on Intel Atom, diagonal display which does not exceed 10 inches.

Sony has already confirmed that the Vaio TT series production was discontinued by a decision of the company. In doing so, its representative said in an interview with Engadget, that the final decision. This step of the largest manufacturer of electronics, perhaps, was the result of increased competition in the market for ultraportable. Indeed netbook engendered in many over the past few years, in fact, perform the same tasks as the Vaio TT, but are much smaller than that. Even the Sony Vaio P ultra-premium-class notebook is less than half the price of Vaio TT models.

In addition, the recent Sony Vaio TT laptops have been forced to compete for a place in the sun with the Ultra, but on performance, such as the Apple MacBook Air and Lenovo ThinkPad X301. They used Core 2 Duo S dual-core processor, exhibiting a much higher speed than the ULV chips in the Vaio TT. At the same time competing solutions are usually thinner than Sony laptops with similar weights.

It is well known that Apple positioned its MacBook Air ultrathin laptop as a direct competitor Sony Vaio TT Series, while the prices of “apple” the computer has always remained below. It is contribution to the solution of the Japanese company has made, and Intel Corporation for its new CULV platform.
